The Present Continuous Tense

The present continuous verb tense indicates that an action or condition is happening now, frequently, and may continue into the future.

Structure: Subject + is/am/are + Present participle (-ing) form

To make a question, change the position of 'be' and the subject.

Usage:

  1. To express actions that are happening now.
    • He is playing tennis now.
  2. To express actions that are planned.
    • He is watching movie with his friend next Sunday.
  3. For changing situations.
    • The climate is getting hotter each year.
  4. To express time at the moment of speaking.
    • We are performing our duty at the moment.
